Practical Photography Workshops.

To provide you with the best experience possible, the workshops are limited to 5 students per session.

Three half-day workshops are designed to give you as much practice as possible in portrait shooting, backed up with the necessary photographic theory behind each subject. The goal here is to give you the key skills to get you started in your photographic journey or hone your skills as a practicing photographer.

At least one model will be sitting in for each workshop to enhance your practical experience.

Snacks and coffee will be provided


08/08: Natural light and exposure basics. Starts at 1pm at the DECA building.

Requirements:

Bring a Camera with its user manual, mirrorless or DSLR. It needs to have full manual controls. If you have a 50mm equivalent lens, it is a plus.

Afternoon schedule:

-Basics of exposure
-General gear talk
-How to find the important settings on your camera
-Practice of different natural light scenarios, this will be the main accent of this workshop.


08/22: Studio lighting. Starts at 1pm at the DECA building.

Requirements:

Bring a Camera with its user manual, mirror less or DSLR. It must have a hot shoe and need to have full manual controls. If you have a 50mm equivalent lens, it is a plus.

Afternoon schedule:

-Flash exposure basics
-General gear talk
-Camera settings
-Practice different lighting scenarios with studio lights, this will be the main accent of this workshop.


09/05: Retouching and editing with Photoshop. Starts at 1pm at the DECA building.

Requirements:

Bring a laptop with Photoshop CS4 minimum, CS5, CS6 or CC are good. Don't forget your mouse and your graphic tablet if you have one (recommended)

If you took the 2 previous workshops, bring the photos you took then. If you did not, bring some of your own photos. A good variety of subjects is recommended.

Afternoon schedule:

-How to make your selection and edit to only keep the few best photos.
-How to do your RAW processing.
-How to find your way around the Photoshop interface.
-Photoshop practice on the selected photos, this will be the main accent of this workshop.
